Greeat Agencies Getting Better?

The biggest indictment of the holding companies can be the fact that they don't foster great creative. With that in mind, can anyone think of a case study in which a great creative agency was acquired by a holding company and then got better? I can think of so many examples of the opposite occurring (I'll avoid embarrassing anyone, or incriminating myself, by mentioning them here). But what about the other way around?

Improvement is only likely with agencies that are mediocrities. I lived through a small-to-midsize getting acquired by a smallish holding company, and gaining added capabilities (Web, BTB, etc.) as we worked in some other acquisitions, and fresh blood improved things...somewhat. Then the new owners hocked us all to Cordiant. The rest is hysteria.

I think all agencies that were bought by Exit3a have gotten better or atleast stayed just as good. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
