I have done many things on affiliate marketing. I find that creating separate landing pages usually don’t work. I think that content rich site is a better way to go. Having a central area that pulls natural traffic and more devoted people would work much better.

I know people do create a lot of content rich sites yet it never pulls anything to them except dust. Giving free offers may just bring more people looking for free information and that is not exactly the people you want. You want people who will spend a buck.

I don’t think that buying leads really does anything other than empty your pockets. Who know where those leads have been. I note that thought everyone doesn’t want spam generally anytime you send out some ad or ad blast you generally get spammed to death.

I like it when people are straight forward on their marketing, the only thing is that they don’t sell very much. Tricks to get people to buy I think is just crazy, these days people bring action for any type of misleading promotion.

I wonder if most affiliate marketers rely on one activity or maybe more. Do they buy leads? I prefer full marketing systems that seem to work real well.

If anyone has just one successful action I like to hear it.

I think that affiliate marketing is one of the lowest forms of DR marketing on the web. You have no control over your creative, as you said above you receive poor leads, and you have no control over any of the positioning or areas in which your brand appears. Typically affiliate marketers depend on giving away one or two high price items like an iPod or a cell phone and rope participants in to a laundry list of sign ups and sneaky opt-out check boxes for everything else. IMHO, I'd rather run my own direct response campaign and earn each one of my conversions with real marketing than a cheap way out.

I too agree and would like to hear more about your point of view, especially your "full marketing systems that seem to work"

John, please explain this in more detail, "I think that content rich site is a better way to go. Having a central area that pulls natural traffic and more devoted people would work much better."
