Willy the Hillbilly Defending His Mountain Dew

In 2008, we’re seeing the opportunities in mobile marketing expanding like never before, and mobile widget platforms are playing a key role in this growth. Today, Zumobi debuted a new branded mobile widget for Mountain Dew that truly pushes the boundaries of mobile content. Mountain Dew’s widget on Zumobi – currently available on Windows Mobile phones and soon for BlackBerry devices – joins other fully branded mobile content for world-class brands including Amazon, MTV and Capital One, and others.

One of the primary benefits that mobile widgets provide is a simple, single-focused activity. With Zumobi, this is taken to the next level – in this case with a game. This game provides a fully branded and entertaining mobile experience. The “Willy the Hillbilly” Tile (as Zumobi likes to call its widgets) is sure to appeal to everyone who enjoys playing games on their phone and highlights the creative potential of the Zumobi platform.

The Tile is a self contained, fun game that pits you as “Willy” against a legion of enemies determined to steal your Mountain Dew. With his trusty broom in hand, Willy fights off fellow Hillbillies including a few surprise intruders. Each level gets progressively harder with more would-be thieves to shoo away.

Having seen their historical reel, Willie the Hillbilly is from their 1950's work or so... He'd go "Mountain Dew - yee hah! It'll tickle your innards!" Another example of an agency going back to the well for some "original" work.
