Those greedy bastards!

white mail? it's hate mail, Buddy. No doubt somehow tied to the near perennial increase in postage.
The post office sends out mostly white mail, what's that all about?
and on that note, let the food fight begin. just leave the desserts out this--they're innocent.
Can you imagine how pork must feel? Being referred to all these years as the "other white meat".
General Market agencies, which are overwhelmingly staffed by white males and females (especially in the creative department), are usually at the fore in creating the images that seems to have such problems with. And with many of the clients and brand managers being white and the intended target audiences of said creative work also being white, I would humbly suggest that political correctness has nothing to do with this and could it be... um,gawd-forbid.... GM shops just doing bad work for no good reason at all?
it's been known to happen from time to time.
but if you prefer some civil action, jon, help is available. the national association for the advancement of white people is awaiting your call, so is the O'Reilly Factor. And as you may have heard Don Imus will be back on the air this fall--no doubt you'd make a wonderful guest.
What about the white female? Is she missing too?

political correctness is a communicable form of brain damage, and highly contagious at that.
It's in to be out, right?

...or dance

colored people are cheaper to cast .......white men cant jump!!!

Well, Mr. Hadji, so the industry is 92% white, you know what that means? It means the industry is 92% white. Here in Los Angeles, there are agencies headed by black people, Asian people, Hispanics, women, everyone. They all do good work, the playing field is pretty level. The point is, in your politically correct world, racist ads are ok as long as they're directed at Caucasian men. For those of us in reality, political correctness is a many-tentacled monster that threatens freedom of expression.
In all seriousness I think a lot of ads portray males in general as doofy and incompetent. Especially fat guys. I've seen plenty of African American men in commercials in the same role. Why? Because it's lame-funny.
Hadji I have to disagree. In fact I'm considering starting a caucasian marketing company to target the very much neglected white market. :)

ironically, in their efforts to seriously not offend anyone, lots of companies wind up offending just about darn near everyone. political correctness is a crutch for the spinally challenged. And um, has anyone noticed lately that all the media really does is misrepresent? the argument's kinda pot-kettle-black, no?
¡Hola!
well Mr. Adler, you finally answered my previous question. Yes, you are in fact serious. And as one of those oh so many people of color the advertising industry hires (the industry's 92% white according to the last 4A's poll taken in 2005 by the way), I'm glad to have folks like you on our side fighting for equal representation and opportunities for all regardless of race, creed and gender.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to rally my brethren--there's far too many white males that are getting screwed by the big bad media and someone's got to put a stop to it!
I ask myself, "Why, oh why, did I even reply to this blog?"
Who said anything about "Christian?" You guys need to wake up. Stereotyping is never a good thing, no matter which gender/class/culture. "Madison Avenue" hires plenty people of color. I know, because I've worked with them. If any other demographic group besides traditional white males were being consistently portrayed as sorry-assed buffoons, you guys would be the first one's howling.
Oh, is the white man under assault again? Oh yeah, and there is a War on Christmas.
My crocodile tears are flowing for the besieged Christian White Man.
you can't be serious? then again, this is the ad world—the same industry where ethnic agencies are banned from being AORs simply because they're ethnic, regardless of their size, discipline, or capabilities.
By the way, there has never been a shortage of diverse portrayals of white males of any age, income level, etc by the ad industry. Not in this decade or any decade. And while you're on the phone with the NAACP asking for your civil rights, ask them what they think of Madison Ave's hiring practices regarding people of color.
Koombya, buddy.

Being "politically correct" is never correct. It is just a passing fad, until it gets changed again to represent the fashion of another circumstance in time. (Oh me, oh my, how hard we try, to please thoughts of an average guy.)
