NBC Clones LoneyGirl15

Last night (11/28/06) NBC’s CI: Episode 10 cloned the recent headlines about YouTube’s infamous Lonelygirl15 with a few shakes of the arse and then a faked kidnapping that devolves into gratuitous violence. The squibed fake blood moves to “real (F/X) Type 0 blood" as the “staged kidnapping” turns into a real greed fest –who will get the revenues from the video views becomes the tipping point.

Chris Noth, Eric Bognosian and crew are determined to find the truth about whether the kidnapping of the “popular video blogger” and her boyfriend, seen online, was real or staged. A terrific theme that rips a slice from the viral rage for sexy video bloggers. The cloning is so well done that the L&O Weeping Willow character looks like a twin to Jessie Rose.

Jesse inspired dozens of videos on YouTube proclaiming LG15 to be a fake.

Believe it or not, The UN last month hired Jessie to star in her “fake role” as Brea/LG115 in a professionally produced video to "help fight poverty" that will be released in several of the main social video blog sites.

Expect to see the UN Lonelygirl15 vid sent to college students in email. Postings on YouTube, Revver, Google, Yahoo and AOl are a snap!

"Lonelygirl15 is a fake” is the search term that will get you linked to all the video bloggers that are offering their rants and takes on the LG15.

As of today, there are so many YouTube videos by or about LG15 that it boggles the mind. Jessie played a role as a genuine “Lonely Girl” so well that if there is an award for fake vids she is a certain nominee. Her prenatural editting belies the amateur sincerity espoused. Her wide-eyed concerns about Dad and teen boys that she finds herself attracted to built a loyal following of both boys wanting a peek at her T&A and teen girls that empathized with her dilemmas.

"Real or staged" was the debate for months on YouTube and in the L&O CI episode that aired last night the same debate kept viewers glued the entire program.

Art imitating "fake life." LOL! The homegrown look and feel of LG15 was cloned perfectly on L&O!

Thousands of teens followed LG15 and The UN believes that she has the power to make their anti-poverty message work.

The use of an exposed faker to pitch a genuine issue is guaranteed to make at least one girl less lonely and ten steps closer to RICH! Do you think this will work? What is your take on The UN and NBC’s exploitation of this genuine faker?

The over 1,000 YouTube videos by or about the actress Jessie Rose who posed as a Brea, a “real” “Lonely Girl” habitually speaking of boyfriend troubles and dad vs. boyfriend concerns in such convincing a manner, while sitting on her bed, that thousands of young teens followed her series of videos religiously. That was before “Brea” aka “LonelyGirl” was exposed as a “Media Whore” by YouTube members seeking fellow authentic teens to share their personal situations with in brief videos. Believe it or not The UN has paid an agency to film Jessie in her fake role appealing to fight poverty with her big sincere eyes and petulant manner.

There will likely be a buzz --- but not the kind the UN is hoping for with an exposed faker as the spokesperson. It's one thing for a marketer to post a video that looks like a home-grown video—it’s another thing to employ an already exposed faker, or am I wrong in expecting this to fail?

The lonelygirl15.com website was registered a month before her first video blog appeared, just like her L&O clone (weeping willow15.com was registered by the boyfriend movie school drop-out). Rumor has it that an application to trademark Lonelygirl15 had been filed and The LATimes reports that using email tracking software has pinpointed the source of emails sent by lonelygirl15 to Creative Artists Agency.

AdRants posted a link today to a terriffically successful Beer ad on YouTube that never aired on TV. My point? People enjoy spoofy stuff---but the backlash to deception can be dangerous and the repercussions of LG15 may take a while to become clear. Bad virals --- like good virals are ripple builders that can have lasting effects.

Arthur, she wouldn't be lonely if she was my girl.
