So simple and so right, mr king. Have heard interviews and hype, and what I take is that Donny is fessing up that he makes mistakes but he's more right than wrong so listen to him and you'll beat the odds. Hmmm. I love how no one here has even bought the guy's book. One thing about DD; he seems to be the most advertised ad guy.

I watched his tv show last night, which is rare for me. He had Larry King on and at the end of the show, he asked Larry for some interviewing tips. Larry said, "Try not to use 'I' so much."

Actually, what's even funnier is their interactive division name: "iDeutsch". I cringe.

So a guy walks into a bar with Donny Deutsch under his arm. Wait. No this is funnier. Okay, so the HR girl from Deutsch calls me. "Kennedy, our creative director wants to talk to you. Do you ahve time next week? So, yeah, I'll talk to him. So i'm home, 10 minutes after i was supposed to get the call, the HR person emails me "he can't do it today--busy--reschedule for tommorow". They did this to me--no lie--8 straight times with varying degrees of intensity. Finally, i got to talk to one of Donny's Girl Generals. She asked me a few vague questions and then wanted to "pick it up later" after 10 minutes. Never heard from again. "That's Advertising!"

Deutsch just isn't my Bag. (thank god I finally found an opportunity to say that).

I'd like to know how you feel about the book John, especially given your personal experiences in this industry. Looking at Donny Deutsch as the latest in a string of advertising icons who became self promoted brands do you feel he helps or distorts the advertising business?

I have not read the book, but I did catch a today show interview. The main point seems to be "Unless you think you can, then you can't, but that doesn't mean you will" It doesn't seem to be anything new and generally speaks about having confidence and not letting the distortion field around big-wigs get the best of you.

If the book is anything like the job interview I had a year ago - they're NOT selling the agency or its work. That aside, John what it the name of the book?

My take is that unless you post the whole book in the blog I'm not planning on reading it. :)
