I know I am an advertising student, but some things are just wrong. I was at a lecture a while back ago and there was a journalist there. This journalist lives in difficult places and reports the news from a personal view. In his lecture he spoke about how the NEWS we watch is not about selling the news to viewers, but about selling viewers to advertisers. WOW, right. This is kind of crazy. The news we watch and read is so filtered and slanted that we think we are getting the truth but are we? Unfortunatly in most cases I think the answer is no. So what are we as viewers, as advertisers, as media and communications professional supposed to do about something like that? Who is responsible for telling the truth? Who is responsible for telling people what to think or what to belive is it us the media professionals or do we give people the right information so that they have the opertunity to think for themselves? As advertisers is it our job? |
