I've just received the following email from Manuel Marino, of Marino Sounds. With minimal editing, as noted, his complete email is posted below.

As an independent, he's put out the call -- let's see what we can do.

Thanks for any and all assistance.

Cheers!

Jessan

============================================================

I am in the situation where something new must happen or I’ll have to close my studio.

I signed a deal with XXXXX Sound Recordings, for my club music production; but this is something different than my music soundtracks work and my studio, Marino Sounds.

I need to meet music supervisors, directors, game developers, composers agents and anyone who works in these fields: music, movies, videogames, television, video projects.

If you want, if you can, help me... well.. you could forward this email to them, with some demos of soundtracks composed by me, and produced by my studio, or... you can help me meet them. I don't know... but here are the demos:

Demo1 Demo2 Demo3 Demo4 Demo5 Demo6 Demo7 [Demo links are available -- or, go to the studio link below]

At the moment I am making a special offer, a free track plus a very low fee, 100 euros per minute of music only. Why? [...]something new must happen [...]

In this article by Paul Taylor you can find another answer:

"Manuel Marino is a former mp3.com artist who decided to strike out on his own after mp3.com's copyright scandal in 2000. His studio, Marino Sounds, provides audio for game, television and multimedia projects at as low a rate as possible in order to actively encourage business from the indie scene. Projects such as Derek Smart's Universal Combat and the X-com inspired UFO: Alien Invasion gave Marino a certain kudos, and his current work on the Morrowind ITP (Italian Translation Project) comprises a further step towards the mainstream. “Being 'indie' is like being in a big family. I feel that other independent musicians and designers are my brothers, and that they deserve my help,” he told me. He's enjoyed the game experience so much that he's planning to establish a full- time dev team." (Paul Taylor, Music4Games)

Thank you for your help, if you need anything, I’m here, and I’ll try to help you as well with my contacts and resources.

Thanks Marc -- I'll pass that back to Manuel; and, yes, it was very nice of you - much appreciated. :-)

Check out my post about Rumblefish.com maybe he can try licensing his music there. If he can afford a few bucks, I'd suggest paying for inclusion in one of our email blasts (as long as we're doing shameless plugs) or space on the welcome page. We'll create his own "featured audio reel section" just for him. Then there's sites like adbase.com where you can get lists of producers. You gotta spend $$ to make $$. The worse thing would be to sit around and do nothing.
