Much adieu about Google

For the record

1) No owner of Adholes deleted the Google blog. I was at a meeting for 3 hours. Only 3 other people have the ability to delete blogs on here, and usually they defer to me before things get deleted. 2) I liked the Google blog. There was a lot of controversy over whether or not the information in the linked article was true. That's why we have a community--so we can agree to disagree, present arguments and let people decide for themselves. 3) Leaving in a huff and saying "Well, if the owners of this site let this stuff happen, I'm not saying" doesn't really do anything for us. Leave. We won't miss you. Great new people come here every day. Many people have left who were quite active never to be seen again. I don't remember who they are because someone great and new took their place. 4) Going around the site saying the admins are mean is just no way to gain respect in the community. Personal attacks are not tolerated, but sheesh, give us some time to take care of it. We're not aroudn 24/7. Since no few people want to actually pay to support us right now, some of us actually have to work for a living in addition to giving you this free networking tool. 5) I'd love that Google link again, if anyone has it, because I found it informative.

You should have told him to suck on his pants. Post the award, and if he's got an issue, let him get it in paper. It's probably some cheapass, PO-boxed company anyway.

Give him my number, and tell him I'm your advocate. I'd love to play with his future, if only for a publicity thing.

Wow, another Marc impersonator. Creapy and flattering. I think I know what costume all the sexy girls will be wearing for Halloween.

The best is how we had, now lost the "Cool Websites.org" award from him. One day we're written up glowingly and asked to display his cheesy banner. Yesterday he emails me a cease and desist letter (after logging on here under a fake name and registered an email address "marc_lefton@hotmail.com" to fool our other admins) demanding I remove the banner from the site for "copyright infringement." He changed his award and gave it to AdRants. Easy come, easy go. Always the bridesmaid...

By the way, I have a buddy who got "Vespa, Dallas" to #1 on a google search just because he had 10 scooters he wanted to sell. My friend is no dummy, but he didn't claim he was inventing the cure for hangovers or anything important.

Yes, that was a reference to Steve, fighting the point that updating your website frequently didn't help your search engine standings, followed by an extremely aggressive attack on me. This is one of the most widely accepted concepts in SEO, even before the patent info. I shouldn't have sunk to his level, and for that I apologize, but he was just out of hand.

You aren't Steve, are you?

Sorry, hadn't refreshed the page since it was open several hours ago and I missed your post Marc - not trying to fuel the fire anymore.. : )

Wow. Like I said I'll welcome intelligent debate, but it's tough to even make an intelligable response to that kind of rant..

Yes, if you're curious, on the teamnet.net site, look at the four rows of racks currently in the Level 1 security room of the facility (first image you see), the third row (of 10 racks) is mostly occupied by our clients in this facility. Our company leases racks, and colocate our own machines, as most other dedicated server companies do. We allow clients to rent our servers, or colocate their own, on our racks. Have we made a mistake here? Am I now parasitic as a result? BTW - what is an OC-42? I'm a dumb college student, and I must still be ignorant to that technology.

I've actually been making web sites for almost as long as the internet has been public. I've been studying marketting them, and researching Google, especially, for some time longer. I know this only goes so far, but I will be graduating very soon, with a degree in the field. I'm not an expert. Many people here I'm sure know far more about this field than I, and if I came off like I was trying to prove anything by posting a blog on the internet; well, sorry sir.

If you, or anyone else you're taking into account, has the opinion that the summary of the recently publicized patent information wasn't a good one, that's one thing. That's respectable, mature, conversation. Yet another screen full of insults like this, is just not. But no matter what, you can't refute that that patent information was very recent factual information referring specifically to Google's algorithms, and coming directly from Google. And, you can't refute that Google's algorithms have been left mostly up to speculation since it's conception (I hope, for the love of God). The patent itself, in my eyes, is extremely useful information to this community. And, as none of the experts here, including yourself (right?), had brought light to this in this forum, it really seems

OK Guys, "Vapor" has been voted off the island for several violations of our terms of service. Buh bye!

??

Vapor if I were being corrected, I would have definately listened with a very open mind. What Steve did, was make a series of very unfounded attacks, most of them personal and having nothing to do with the blog; as a lot of this proved the SEO marketting !#@%@#% he'd been trying to spew to the people on this site was complete garbage. Again, I really hope no one here has paid this guy. If someone is honestly up for debate with using USPTO.GOV as a source . . . I am still listening, very openly.

Not to belabor this issue: sharing an experienced opinion is a huge benefit... there are many well founded views to share... the "way" in which it is done is something else entirely... sharing an opposing and perhaps more or less educated view can be done with a friendly nod... to take a view as gospel may be a "buyer beware" situation... highly paid experienced professionals who choose to remove themselves or be baited by hostility may be leaving behind an opportunity to grow, to learn and to share...

No biggie. You've got mail. : )

OK Corey. No worries. Disregard my last email. I was a little frustrated as you can imagine.

My assumption was actually that Steve was with you; as my profile defacement sounded exactly like him, not to mention he was being ridiculous to the point that I wasn't sure anyone else would have possibly jumped in with a similar attitude. If this isn't the case, then I apologize for all the things I said about you guys. ; )
