Sooo, thank you for those that have posted on my last blog. I would really love to talk to any of you willing to spend a few minutes sharing your thoughts on this topic. My dissertation will basically be looking at the dynamics of trust, performance, and satisfaction ... Looking through the account history of clients and agencies, you can see how some stay for several decades (Allstate with Leo Burnett) and others just hop from agency to agency. I would assume (don't have the figures in front of me) that not ALL long relationships work in a linear fashion where performance is steadily increasing ... at some point the personal relationship has to take over from the transactional relationship and I believe the extent of trust that both parties have with one another plays a huge role. In addition, any of you who are on new accounts, how many times are expectations and performance indicators outlined BEFORE a relationship begins?

Again, would love to hear from all of you WONDERFUL AdHoles!

"The customer is always right"…Is the customer always right? Wrong! Do we need to treat them as if they are? Right! Because, if each of us do not find ways to do this in our individual businesses, those customers are going to let us know just how unhappy (and right!) they really are." Buddy Friendly

A close friend of mine who recently died was the best account service person I have ever met. Before his death I asked him the secret of keeping and growing a piece of business over time. His one word answer came without hesitation...TRUST. Performance and satisfaction vary over time and with circumstance. Trust is either always there, or it is lost forever. He made sure it was always there in everything his agency did on every level, at any time. If you understand what trust means, you will understand its importance. If you do not, you won't. BTW, my friend's largest client is the Godfather of his children, and still with his agency working closely with his hand picked and trained account service successor, who now heads his agency.
