The Tragic Decision Of Sony

I have now seen it all. This evening’s episode of South Park has been a non-stop PSP ad and I feel sick. Not that the decision doesn't make sense demographically speaking, but the consumer insight is totally lacking.

South Park's audience is fiercely protective and highly anti-establishment. The fact that a product would be as overtly presented for the first third of the show not only shows poor judgment on the side of Sony, but of Comedy Central as well. The only side to this decision that does make real sense is that I'm currently writing about it and it will be all over the filter blogs tomorrow giving Sony free residual publicity. But at the rate of the products sale, I don't think it was necessary.

I don't know, but the ads are getting to me. Everytime I see one, I WANT IT.
