by Joshua Tang Logo designing is an intricate process that requires nothing but perfection. The margin of error is so minute that it leaves no room for mistakes. Colors, shapes and typography are all intertwined with one another to form something extraordinary that tells the personality of the company. One single graphic is able to speak volumes of a company’s style and attitude. Companies spend a great deal of time and money to invest in a good designer to design their logos. It is no wonder that Eulda placed so much emphasis and importance in their judging process in order to crown the best logo design of Europe. Top award winners of Eulda’07 “Best of Europe” went to Jovan Rocanov and Anna Timkov for originality and design excellence. Their logo design concept complemented the mission statement of their client, Consumer Society and Citizen Networks: To protect the rights of consumers. Rocanov wanted “the most simple and distinct way to show protection in a context of consumption”. Thus, she connected two very distinct symbols to form a logo: a bar code to signify consumption and an umbrella to symbolize protection. Leaving all the technicalities aside, Eulda’07 allows its readers to immerse themselves in the finest of first-class logo designs in Europe stretching from Austria to United Kingdom. In only two years, Eulda has managed to establish itself as one of the most important design events. Highly endorsed by big names such as Icograda, AIGA and Grafia, this annual will undoubtedly excite all senses and quench creative juices.
