Somebody holds these truths to be self-evident, that all advertising creates inequality, that advertising agencies are endowed by their Creator with certain unattainable Goals, among these are Life Outside of Work, Liberty to Think Freely, and the pursuit of Happiness. That brings us to smoking. Smoking costs agencies and clients big bucks. Smokers must leave the agency edifice to smoke. How much time do smokers spend going outside for a smoke? A lot, when compared to the non-smoker. If for no other reason than timesaving, which increases productivity, which increases revenue, which ultimately increases profits, the smoker should be allowed to smoke at his or her cubicle. Smoking can help both the agency, and the client, get more bang for their buck.

You’re correct, Marc. But that’s because smokers are constantly changing climates. Either they are leaving air-conditioned offices only to exit into humidity or they’re exiting cozy, warm cubicles to stand in frigid temperatures. Don’t get me started on the rain.

When I was working on Philip Morris, I suggested a Marboro Suppository. Fools! They could be billionaires now. Oh… wait.
