Orlando, FL, May 10, 2007 -- Create Magazine's swashbuckling cover for the May/June 2007 issue is a digital rendering of Davy Jones, from "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," and the upcoming third installment: "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," premiering in theaters on May 24. Aaron McBride of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a Lucasfilm Ltd. company, created the dazzling digital rendering and has served as visual effects art director on all three "Pirates" movies. "Working on the 'Pirates' trilogy has been a fantastic experience," noted McBride. "Designing characters is always an interesting challenge because often you have to imagine a detailed backstory where none exists. The cursed crewmembers for these films were no exception, we had to determine what the motivation was behind each detail we added -- I think that's what makes them so interesting and believable." Create Magazine's May/June issue features an in-depth profile on Oscar-winning Visual Effects Supervisor John Knoll, also with Industrial Light & Magic. As a brilliant pirate master, Knoll and his ILM team engineered those memorable tattered-looking skeletal pirates and many other remarkable visual effects in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." In the debut of the magazine's new Identity department, Knoll talks about how he achieved his lifelong dream of working in the visual effects department of the renowned studio, Industrial Light & Magic. He also reveals how "Star Wars" changed his life and what he's up to next.
