Personal Interest
The Big GameNo, I'm talking about the big games that C-level executives play in their C-level ivory towers (yes they still exist) with their overblown C-level egos. I have been in a half dozen corporations in my career and have never once been in one that didn't have a subset of primadonas that feel they are "holyer than thou". I too have had to check my ego at the door after winning a big piece of business or nailing an important presentation. However, unlike some of these veteran egotists, I check my id at the door and try to follow the golden rule in business as well as in my daily life. One wonders what caused the switch to turn on these individuals that feed off of belittlement, enlarged cohones and an insatiable desire for power and physical trappings. Was it that they were picked on as kids and thus need to give to others what was once given to them? Was it that they were never nurtured at home and need to vent this frustration? Or was it because they were never picked for the dodgeball team one too many times? Whatever the reason I wanted to rant for just a moment because I just got off work and had to deal with one of the super-ids tonight. Thank you I feel better now. |
