It seems that of all the postings on AdHoles, most deal with current advertising trends, events, a**holes like Don Imus, and the like. However, there has been no discussion on current media trends, fighting for budgets, or the other things that tend to keep us up at night.

So, I'll be the first. It seems to me there is a lot of confusion on video. Personally, I've seen more interest from planners and vendors than users. Studies have show that online VOD is increasing, but if you add 5 people to 0 people, that's a 500% increase. So, tell me, what trends are you seeing in video adoption and is it currently helping your campaigns?

Good Ole American laziness will prevail. It takes too much effort to create content. Much, much easier to kick back and watch. I predict a huge increase in snack product sales.

Media here! Definitions DO help. Sometimes. I will do the media thing and assume I know what you are talking about, and answer it as if I know. If you meant something else, well, you know. Always an answer. We've toyed around with video online for a while. Men, women, kids, etc. The jury is still out. It is interesting, new, feels like we are moving forward. Is it "helping" our campaigns? Still not sure. Depends on the creative, the message, the client, the success metrics. Wow, that was a weasely answer!

I can't find the article but I read somewhere that 2% of people who have a video ipod actually use the video part. I think that sector still has a long way to go. The iTV will be a big step - it's finally a bridge between online content, your TV, etc. If you think of video as food, TV is a meal and Youtube is a snack. So in a snack-based culture, you're going to have to also condense your message down a bit and I think a lot of media people are trying to bring old models to the table - ones they understand. As far as your comment about media talk on this site in general, more blogs about it are definitely welcome. Invite all your media friends! Right now they represent a very small slice of our userbase. 60% of the site are creatives right now.

For us outsiders, can you define what is "Media" in this context? Perhaps an example of a Media Trend would help. Also, which video are you talking about - Satellite (DTH) and/or Cable versus Internet Video? Or both? I may not have a lot to contribute, but I want to be able to follow along.
