I was wondering what everyone was doing at the age of 25? My birthday is today (April 28), and I am officially the big 2-5! I have been thinking a lot about what I have done with my life and where I want to be in the future. . . . Oh my gosh, I'm 25! I hope I don't hit a quarter-life crisis! I need some inspiration . . .

thinking i was too important to be 25 ... living out of my car ... making great friends ... taking my third junior level job in the field.

I am learning to think of success more as how I spend my days than as a race to a finish line too . . . Nice blog, Hoang!

At 25 I was just getting settled into an in-house Creative generalist position at UM after my former company a brand naming consultancy discontinued their relationship with me. I learned a lot from both and they were fun rides at times. 3 years later I'm just rearriving in my hometown of NYC and realizing that the transitional times keep coming and that that's been critical to whatever success I've had so far and will be to whatever I aspire to. So for me thus far 28 and 25 have a lot in common but I have more precedent to draw on on those slightly doubtful days . . .

I have been 25 for exactly 29 days. This was a great topic. I've always wondered this myself about other people. I've always thought that I should be much more further in my life than I am currently. But after reading all these posts it seems I'm exactly where I should be at 25. Exploring the world and looking for my place. I just started an internship in Amsterdam afew weeks ago. I don't feel so bad about still interning at age 25 now.

Happy Birthday, Wing! You are doing great if you are doing what you love. Nothing else matters then. Its good to hear everyone's story below. By 25 I had seen the world and been married for several years, my whole success story had already been made. I thought I was middle age then. Now I am over twice that age and I feel like I am 25 and with a new success story in progress. Who knew? Now Wang how did you spend your birthday ;)

Happy birthday! Almost five years ago for me...I had just moved to Chicago, and was trying to make it as a freelancer in a new market, with almost no experience. Making sales sheets for a processed foods plant, and selling books to sorta pay the bills. Not a great year, but valuable, and it's been uphill ever since.

Happy Birthday! I turned 25 at the beginning of April. I feel as though I'm in the zone, both professionally and creatively. I quit my job last year, started Oblada Creative and have been making a good living for myself ever since. I've never felt better!!! It took much stressing over but with risk comes reward. I think you need to hone into exactly what you want to do with your life and work towards it every day. Never give up and always project confidence!

25 wasn't that fun (it was 2001, product design market tanked), my car insurance rate didn't even drop. In short, lost my job, car broke down, enrolled back into grad school to get an MBA (I thought I couldn't land a job cause I sucked at design, turned out it was just the economy). Eating mac and cheese with tobasco and cut-up hot dogs (still yum), trying to get freelance work to pay the rent and buy cheap beer. Survived, humbled and doing much much better now!

First off - Happy 25th Wing! Ah yes, 25. You are at the age where you are bullet proof (so I thought). I had run a small agency for 3 years and left EP for Austin (good move). I was anxious to land a job so my 25th found me working in a depressing state association job - in marketing. YUCK! I would rather have been in Europe with Kim. My advice. Do whatever it is you want to do NOW. Don't be afraid to take a risk... move to another city, take a chance on yourself.... just do something! If doesn't scare you, it isn't worth it! ; ) You'll never have this chance again so do whatever you've always wanted to and do it up big. Work hard, network and before you know it you'll be a VP or some big wig somewhere. Go enjoy life!

Thanks for everyone's words so far. I love reading them. It's 12 noon where I'm at as I am writing this. Half-way through my birthday! :) Go me, it's my birthday!

I was a one man creative team at a small agency called the Blum Group (now Blue Elephant. What a dumb name.) I had already worked at BBDO and Ammirati Puris Lintas and I saw all the money my boss was making. The dot-com boom was happening and agencies were turning away work. I felt all this pressure because of all these 19 year old millionaires so I quit to start my own agency. I did that for a while but a few dot com busts later and no one was paying their bills so I went crawling back to the agencies and wound up at Brand Buzz.

I was a sales manager for the Bnai Brith and kicking back in an ocean view apartment in Marina Del Rey. Back then the world was my oyster. Then I got this stupid F)(*)(*ing idea to move to Charlotte.

Love the advice Capers, my dad always told us growing up: dont' tell me your problems, tell me your solutions. Works great, talk about gaining respect from your peers.

Hoang, Ahhh to be 25 again and know what I know now. At 25 I was a media planner at JWT in Los Angeles working on the Bally health club account and working in Century city. One piece of advice., do not be afraid to have a well thought out point of view on issues. As a supervisor through the years I have run into two different kinds of people, ones who work to solve their own problems and those who look to other people to solve their problems. Be a problem solver. I know it sounds basic but for me it was the defining characteristic for someone to be successful. You don’t always have to be right but the fact that you take the initiative to look at a problem intelligently and solve it says that they can trust you to handle more responsibility.

Man, my dad used to do that to me and it jacked my head up. But you asked for it. At 25 I had just left my prepress gig and was a production artist for a foodservice ad agency called Fuqua & Eyre. I worked on Tyson Beef & Pork, Minute Maid and Kraft Foodservice. That agency is long gone, they were the last of the quit and 4 and get loaded. I was also getting divorced that year, eew. I don't think my "25 story" is as intimidating as my old man's. But that's ok.

Are ya kiddin' me? After working two jobs and finally graduating from UC Bezerkly, six months living in Jolly ole England sounded good to me... at 25 I was traipsing around Europe until I came back and lived off my friends couch out of my suitcase, working two more jobs and finally getting my foot back in the door to broadcasting... now, 15 years later, I don't regret one single minute of it :) Happy Happy Birthday, this is not a time for crisis it's a time for L-I-V-I-N-G!!! Have fun!

Hoang, happy birthday! Your twenties are SUPPOSE to be when you're figuring it all out! At 25-I was still an administrative assistant making copies, fetching coffee and creating lots and lots of ppt decks. I remember telling my boss that I couldn't wait for the day that I could use my brain 'to actually think' instead of coming to work on automatic. It took 10 years to work my way to VP... but with persistence, determination and lots and lots of patience believe you can work your way there to!

I'm almost there, Hoang. It's definitely... disheartening sometimes, especially when I look at people on this site, and elsewhere who have had some really great experiences and jobs (and money) already. Maybe all of the accomplishments people claim are just showing that people are good advertisers here? lol. When I was 18, I thought at 25 I would be junior exec somewhere... now that I'm getting closer to 25, I think that I'll be good if by 32 I've done something career wise. Until then, I want to be on a trial basis, trying out as many things as I can and getting experiences that won't be allotted to me once I'm older with bills and responsibilities.
