Entry-level Land

So I am coming up on six months at my first "real" job at an agency. I'm looking back on what I have learned, wondering what I should have learned, thinking about where I want to be in six months and where I will actually be in six months. (My biggest hope is that I won't be spending half my days at the dang copy machine anymore). I haven't seen many posts on here about entry-level jobs, and with a lot of people graduating in the next couple of months I think it's a good topic to discuss. So here are my questions:

1) What are your best/worst memories from your entry-level ad job? 2) What advice do you have for those of use navigating entry-level land? 3) What did you do to graduate from entry-level land and how long did it take you?

Of course other comments (preferably entertaining ones) are always appreciated. As are copy-machine horror stories. They make me feel better.

I have a post that deals with the search, not the maneuvering.

*1* best/worst memory: getting wasted at work with a 7' tall partner and an angry copywriter and then rolling around in the ceo's office (he had a nice rug). *2* advice: stay at one place for 2-3 years, pay your dues and get promoted before you leave, or else you'll be trapped in entry-level hell. *3* move-on-up: i left and shifted laterally, brushed up on my bullshitting skills, and got a fancier title.

Much of moving up has to do with your abilities, it also has to do with the person on the ladder infront of you. When they move up - there's your op.

I’m on my 17th entry-level job and the one thing I’ve noticed is your tax bracket doesn’t change, which is always a blessing this time of year.
